Here at WellyPutt we do our very best to dream up resourceful methods so we can be gentle on our environment and minimize waste.
Most of the structures were built from re-used, recycled and pre-loved materials where possible, most of the timber and plywood was from the walls we demolished during the fit out, and we sourced some gorgeous timber from the old deck and roof of our exceptionally skillful builder, John.
We also used tonnes of recycled paper & cardboard sourced and collected from local businesses. All of our sculptures and textures were created by hand, mostly using recycled and pre-loved materials too, we even used the sawdust from the actual construction in the sculpting process!

Meet The Founders
David and Izabella are the founders of WellyPutt, they co-created the course with a selection of incredibly skillful people, including our tech expert Rory and master carpenter John. Izabella and Rory are also the creators of Wellington's first escape games, Escape Mate, so be prepared for awesome, high-tech moving obstacles, tactile contraptions and challenges, as well as immersive set designs.
We were incredibly lucky to have John to join us in this project, who is from a movie set building background and very used to designing and manufacturing weird and unusual structures with ease.
The Ocean Room
WellyPutt's theming is inspired by the Wellington culture and lifestyle. The first of the 3 themed rooms you'll experience during your visit is The Ocean Room, which represents the Pacific origins of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Swirly Dirly Whirly
Wild waters are very much part of NZ's shores and rivers, and in the Ocean Room you'll find our whirlpool contraption. Sink your ball into the pool and see where the current takes it!
The Tsunami!
The ocean room features our incredible 2-metre loop-de-loop. Whack that ball and watch it fly!
Tinyland
The second room on your journey is Tinyland! Inspired by Wellington and New Zealand's incredible clout in the fantasy movie making game. This room features a fire-breathing dragon, a magical windmill, as well as tinyland itself and it's multiple ball-rolling options. Stay a while and explore all the wonders this magical land has to offer.
The Windmill
A mini golf classic!
Vicious Wellington winds make these fins spin like crazy, so timing is everything. This one actually features 2 holes to aim for, but choose carefully!
The Dragon
Hoarding his pile of gold in Tinyland is our ferocious dragon!
Find the path to the hole, but don't wake him!
The Catapult
While exploring the stunning Pōneke bush, you come across a mysterious catapult, what else is there to do but hurl your ball into the caves and see where it comes out!
Bet you've never played with a catapult at a mini golf before!
The Wellington Cityscape
Finally your journey takes you into the 3rd room, a miniature Wellington!
This room features loads of nods and references to the windy wonder we call home! Watch your ball slosh down Cuba Street's iconic bucket fountain, steer your shot around the cable car, and kick-off with the Wellington Phoenix at the Caketin Stadium.
Try your luck with these tactile, unique and action-filled challenges. You'll understand why we say WellyPutt is SO much more than just mini-golf!
Cable Car
Two cable cars march up and down the mountain unstoppably.
Time your shot to perfection or get your ball run over!
Anyone for Foosball?
Don your Phoenix shirt and play one-on-one with a team-mate at the Cake-Tin Stadium.
You might get a hole in one, or your team mate might score first and make life so much harder!
Earthquake Machine
Shake those high-rise buildings to step up your game. Once your ball gets to the top, watch it travel across the whole Wellington skyline. Then walk your way through an obstacle course of tiny iconic buildings.

The Legendary Harbour Monster
Finally, at the end of your round, watch as our legendary harbour monster of Wellington's ocean shore gobbles up your ball to finish your game. Be careful of those chomping jaws!

We also have a gorgeous seating area where you can wait for mates before your game or tot up your scores afterwards.
